Students are encouraged to submit their applications as early as possible and by the deadlines listed below.

The application includes the documents below.  

• Statement of Purpose 

• Academic Letter of Reference OR Employment Letter of Reference .  If your reccomender would like to submit the letter directly to our office please have them submit it at this link. 

• Student Agreement Form (must be signed by student) 

• Campus Statement of Understanding (must be signed by student)  

• Resume (View a sample resume here)

• Unofficial UC Transcript

  • Recent transfer students and UCEAP reciprocal exchange students need to also upload their most recent unofficial transcript from their transfer or home institution

• Academic Planning Form If you cannot get your academic advisor’s signature(s) by the time of application, you must: 1) Submit the completed form, without the advisor signature(s) with your application, AND 2) Upload the signed form to your application no later than 1 week after the application deadline.  

• Selected students will be required to accept their offer and will be responsible for a $400 non-refundable housing deposit fee should they withdraw from the program.

If you apply for the UCDC Program, your written application will be evaluated according to your communication skills, academic accomplishments, work experience, extracurricular activities and, most importantly, evidence of the following:

• Seriousness of purpose

• Appropriate academic preparation for the proposed internship and research project

• Ability to work independently and effectively in a highly demanding environment

• Ability to collaborate with others
